Bring a piece of charming folk art into your home for the holidays with this handcrafted Chalkware Santa. The art of molding plaster of paris into holiday treasures is a centuries-old German tradition.
Handcrafted by artist Kathryn Campbell of Bittersweet House Folk Art, this Santa is a standout piece of storytelling.
The Art of the Coat: Santa's coat is hand-painted with a highly detailed Pennsylvania German Fraktur design, featuring a symmetrical 'Tree of Life' motif and floral vines. The pattern is inspired by traditional Alpine embroidery, blending historical European influence with American primitive charm.
Of special note: This piece is cast in chalkware using a wonderful rare antique German chocolate mold. The palette features rich, saturated colors, finished with a vintage patina that gives the piece the look and feel of a century-old family heirloom Each piece is hand-painted, finished with an antiqued glaze, numbered, dated, and signed.
