The Artistry
Measuring 6 1/4 inches, this unique piece is cast in chalkware from a rare antique German chocolate mold. It is highly unusual in that it features a face on both the front and the back of the Santa.
In traditional German folklore, this design represents the two sides of the holiday spirit: one face being the jolly, giving Santa Claus, and the other being the more stern, disciplinary Belsnickle.
The Design
The hallmark of this Santa is its remarkable "Two Faces." In German tradition, the holidays were a time of both reward and reflection. This figure embodies that duality, with a kindly Santa face on the front and a more serious Belsnickle face on the back. It serves as a beautiful conversation piece and a unique window into Christmas history.
Of Special Note: Cast from an exceptionally rare antique German chocolate mold. This Santa is hand-signed, numbered, and dated by Kathryn Campbell.
