The Artistry

This whimsical and charming figure is a standout piece of folk art storytelling. Catalog #R191 features a yelloware rabbit dressed in traditional German lederhosen and a riding jacket, gallantly perched atop a rooster.

Hand-cast from a highly detailed rare antique German chocolate mold, the piece is finished using my signature hand-mixed pigments to achieve the deep, honey-toned warmth of heritage yelloware. The rooster is finished in a rich Rockingham Glaze, recreating the mottled, tortoiseshell luster found on mid-19th-century pottery.

Through a meticulous multi-step process of glazing, antiquing, and hand-polishing, this chalkware figure takes on the soulful character of a museum-quality antique. Measuring 5 ¼" x 5 ¼", it is hand-signed "Bittersweet House Folk Art, Kathryn Campbell".
