Standing at 4 inches tall, this exquisite R222 Chalkware Gilded Rabbit is cast from an antique chocolate mold by Anton Reiche of Dresden. Unlike more rustic primitive pieces, this chalkware rabbit is a celebration of European elegance and aristocratic detail.
The finely detailed apron is inspired by antique European embroidered textiles, reminiscent of the ornate needlework found on historic folk costumes. To capture a sense of luxury, I have incorporated rich gold tones throughout the design. By mixing gold pigments directly into a specialized antiquing process, the piece achieves a luminous, gilded patina that feels like a rescued treasure from a grand estate.
The gilded finish of this piece makes it a standout in any collection. It pairs beautifully with the "Modern Farmhouse" or "Luxe" aesthetic, where a touch of metallic shine adds sophistication to neutral palettes. Display her on a velvet-lined jewelry tray, atop a stack of vintage leather-bound books, or as the centerpiece of a refined Easter mantle display featuring white tulips and crystal accents.
