R228 captures something unusually lifelike for chalkware: a rabbit in a graceful walking pose on all fours. That stance—so natural, so “in motion”—is seldom found in vintage molds, which makes this piece especially appealing to collectors. The figure measures approximately 5" wide.
Around the neck is a charming ruffled ribbon with a small vintage-style woven basket filled with hand-formed eggs. If you prefer a simpler, more primitive look, the ribbon detail can be customized or omitted upon request. I finish each piece using hand-mixed colors and a layered antiquing process to give the surface the soft patina of a well-kept heirloom.
This piece displays beautifully in a stepback cupboard, on a dry sink, or styled with stoneware and dried herbs for a collected, early-American mood. The walking silhouette also looks wonderful along a mantel where the profile reads clearly from across the room.
