The Artistry

R328 Chalkware Bonnet Chick stands approximately 5 inches tall and captures the kind of whimsical spring character that antique confectionery molds did so well. This piece is hand-cast in chalkware from an original Anton Reiche antique chocolate mold (Dresden, Germany) and finished with a soft, timeworn patina.

She’s dressed for Easter in a hand-painted blue bonnet tied with a delicate ribbon—an old-world detail that gives the figure a storybook charm. The warm yellow body and crisp blue bonnet create a cheerful focal point for a stepback cupboard, mantel, or an early spring vignette with ironstone and natural wood.
