The Artistry

Catalog #R329 holds a special place in my collection. Standing approximately 5 ½ inches tall, the painting of her dress and character was directly inspired by the antique German Easter postcard that became the Bittersweet House logo.

Cast from an antique chocolate mold, she is a three-dimensional tribute to the heritage of German folk art and paper ephemera. Each piece is hand-painted in the soft, nostalgic colors of the original postcard and finished with a gently timeworn patina designed to feel like a century-old treasure.

Styling Ideas

R329 is a natural focal point for an Easter or spring display, especially in a stepback cupboard or on a mantel with early wood, ironstone, and antique textiles. Because she mirrors the rabbit in the Bittersweet House logo, she also makes a meaningful “signature” piece to display near framed ephemera, postcards, or other German folk art collectibles.

Each piece is individually hand-cast from an antique chocolate mold, hand-painted, and finished with an antiqued patina, then signed, numbered, and dated on the bottom: Bittersweet House Folk Art, Kathryn Campbell.
