R344 Crouching Rabbit is a classic example of German-style folk art chalkware, hand-cast from a rare 19th-century antique chocolate mold. The low crouching pose gives the piece a quiet, natural realism—full of texture and character.
The rabbit sits on a base painted as a spring Alpine meadow, featuring Lily of the Valley, wild poppies, and blue forget-me-nots. Each piece is finished in small batches and carefully antiqued for a soft, timeworn patina—so no two are ever exactly alike.
This piece displays beautifully tucked into a stepback cupboard, on a mantel with ironstone, or as part of an Easter vignette with early wood, stoneware, and dried botanicals. The meadow base adds color without feeling modern—perfect for primitive and farmhouse interiors.
