A celebration of early American folk art. The S470 Distelfink Fraktur Chalkware Belsnickle Santa is hand-cast from an antique chocolate mold and painted in a deep, rich green that gives the traditional form a strong Pennsylvania folk art character. The figure carries a bottle brush tree and has the upright, sturdy presence associated with the classic Knecht Ruprecht type of Belsnickle.
The coat is hand-painted with detailed fraktur-inspired motifs in vivid red, yellow, and black. Distelfinks and tulips appear across the front and back, while small palmettes decorate the sleeves and a rosette motif marks the transition between the front and back panels. On the reverse, a large tulip rises from the hem and is flanked by distelfinks, creating a striking folk art composition that echoes the symmetry and color of early Pennsylvania German manuscripts.
The beard and snowy base are lightly dusted with Diamond Frost glass glitter, adding a crystalline winter sparkle that catches the light without distracting from the painted detail.
