Standing at 5.75 inches tall, the S557 Heirloom Crewel Christmas Chalkware Santa is cast from an antique German chocolate mold. The coat is finished in a deep, aged crimson that has been meticulously antiqued to suggest a century of wear and history.
The hand-painted design is an intricate tribute to early crewel embroidery. Beyond traditional vines, the coat is adorned with stylized pineapples and pomegranates—historical symbols of hospitality and prosperity. These fruits are nestled among flowing foliage and stylized flowers, creating a rich, layered texture that mimics the "raised" look of period needlework against the crimson red background.
Of Special Note:
The detailed botanical embroidery creates a piece that feels both humble and regal. Each folk art Santa is individually cast in chalkware, hand-painted, signed, numbered, and dated by Kathryn Campbell.
