Standing 4 inches tall, the S561 Chalkware Christmas Santa is a vibrant tribute to 18th-century folk art Pennsylvania Fraktur. The piece feautres the bold palette of ochre, deep greens, and cinnabar reds that defined the Pennsylvania Dutch homesteads.
The coat serves as a canvas for quintessential Fraktur motifs. Framed by delicate scalloped borders, you will find stylized tulips, hearts, and flowers. The painting technique mimics the ink-and-wash style of original Fraktur artists, with fine black linework providing a sharp, rhythmic structure to the botanical elements.
Of Special Note:
Despite its small stature, this Santa carries a significant presence due to the historical weight of its design. It captures the "heart and tulip" essence of American folk heritage perfectly. Each piece is individually cast in chalkware from an antique chocolate mold, hand-painted, signed, numbered, and dated by Kathryn Campbell.
