A garden reverie. The S620 unfolds as a stylized vision of flora and fauna arranged in a tapestry-like composition, where pheasants, curling vines, and flowering branches create a balanced, symbolic landscape. The design invites the eye to wander—ordered yet imaginative—echoing the cultivated garden imagery found in historic European decorative arts.
The Tree of Life anchors the composition, with two pheasants standing prominently on the front and a third revealed on the reverse. Flowing botanical forms and stylized blooms wrap continuously around the figure, allowing the narrative to read as a unified textile rather than a series of separate scenes.
Cast from an exceptionally rare antique chocolate mold manufactured by Kutzscher of Germany, the high-relief surface provides an unusually deep canvas for this level of detail. Kutzscher molds are prized by collectors for their engraving precision, allowing painted motifs to achieve true dimensional presence and a sculptural richness that supports complex storytelling.
The layered painting process creates a textile-like depth reminiscent of historic crewel embroidery and woven tapestries. A softly aged patina completes the surface, giving the piece the presence of an heirloom artifact—meant to be lived with, studied, and passed down rather than simply displayed.
