The Artistry
Decked in holly. The S622 Chalkware Belsnickle Santa with Cardinal is hand-cast from an antique German Lauerösch chocolate mold and hand-painted in a bold Christmas palette of bright red, forest green, and soft ivory. The traditional Belsnickle form is especially striking in this smaller scale, with a tall hooded cape and a simple, graphic presence that suits the folk art style beautifully.
The cape is hand-painted in vivid red and ornamented with scattered holly leaves and small white fleur-de-lis motifs. Beneath it, the inner coat is painted forest green and framed by narrow ivory borders filled with trailing holly garlands and berries. A small red cardinal rests at the front, adding a bright narrative accent to the design, while the warm brown pack and boots give the figure a grounded, old-world character.
