Tales of the Sea. The S800 Gloucester Harbor Nautical Chalkware Santa is a hand-painted Masterwork that celebrates the maritime heritage of New England. Cast from a rare antique German “Santa with Lantern” chocolate mold, this 8-inch figure becomes a full 360-degree canvas—transforming a traditional Christmas Santa into a panoramic seafaring narrative.
Encircling the figure is a richly detailed 19th-century coastal scene inspired by the historic fishing port of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Graceful schooners sail across deep indigo waters as breaching whales and spouting leviathans rise from the Atlantic. Along the rugged shoreline of Cape Ann, a classic red-and-white lighthouse stands watch against a mist-softened horizon, anchoring the composition in authentic maritime tradition.
Santa’s sky-blue hood is adorned with hand-painted clouds and a nautical anchor, while the base features a sculpted rope border and ship’s wheel motif—subtle references to the tools and symbols of a working harbor. Each brushstroke is applied by hand, building layers of depth, movement, and atmosphere that distinguish this piece from mass-produced holiday decor.
