A winter story. The S834 Scandinavian Forest Chalkware Santa captures the hush of a snow-covered woodland in a refined red-and-white palette. Hand-cast from an antique chocolate mold and standing 8" tall, this Belsnickle is painted with a continuous winter forest narrative inspired by traditional Scandinavian folk imagery.
Evergreen trees, a leaping reindeer, and small woodland creatures unfold around the form in a toile-like composition, with a fox tucked discreetly along the reverse. The restrained palette allows the imagery to feel graphic yet timeless—evoking early European decorative traditions rather than modern pattern trends.
In place of a traditional apple bag, this Santa carries a generously scaled basket of ornaments finished in a softly brushed gold glaze. From the songbird perched at the shoulder to the striped stocking-cap hood, every surface is carefully considered, making this piece a true collector’s masterwork.
