Standing at a majestic 9 inches, the S454 is a premier piece in the Bittersweet House collection. Cast from a large antique German chocolate mold, this Santa features an extraordinary level of detail inspired by the rich textures of traditional Crewel embroidery. The design pays homage to the 17th and 18th-century needlework found in historic New England homes, where heavy wool yarns were used to create flowing, organic botanical patterns.
The Santa's coat is hand-painted with a sophisticated Pennsylvania German floral design, rendered with the deliberate, dimensional look of stitchery. The palette features deep reds, forest greens, and golden ochre, creating a "tapestry on chalk" effect. To finish this heirloom-quality piece, Diamond Frost glass glitter is applied to the beard and the snow-covered base, providing a crystalline shimmer that contrasts beautifully with the matte, textile-inspired painting.
Of Special Note:
This 9-inch silhouette is one of the most substantial forms available, making it a perfect centerpiece for an Early American holiday display. Each piece is individually cast in chalkware, hand-painted, signed, numbered, and dated by Kathryn Campbell.
